UN pension fund: FFOA, ILO, FAFICS: Unable to refute facts? Throw a tantrum! 1 November 2018

UN retirees and staff deserve to know the pathetic caliber of our pension representative/pension officials

Unable to refute facts (because they're facts!) in UN Pension Blog articles, as contained in the reports of UN oversight bodies, such as the Board of Auditors, Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ) and the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), concerning mismanagement, conflicts of interest, and the appearance of collusion, between the Pension Board and our Fund management?

No problem, Do as the FAO retiree association president; an anonymous UN staff member at the ILO pension office; and the former FAFICS president (Federation of Associations of Former International Civil Servants) do:

Throw a tantrum! And scream "racism" (Pension/ILO)!

“Your rubbish is dumb”, Gyongyver Prien, FFOA president

“A racist attack”, Pension/ILO

“Spiteful and vicious yarns”, Linda Saputelli, former FAFICS president

“I would not share your rubbish with anyone”, Gyongyver Prien, FFOA president

Fortunately for the members of the Fund, the UN oversight bodies, such as the General Assembly's Fifth Committee and ACABQ, the Board of Auditors, OIOS, and the SG, have consistently demonstrated their concern with facts -- not tantrums.

Dear ms muck-raker (no colleague of yours),
I have asked you repeatedly to delete me from your mailing lists of scurrilous material.
2. Your rubbish is dumb.
3. I’ve also asked you who you purport to represent, & under what procedures, but since it has become obvious that you represent no one but yourself, you never respond.
4. Mr Breschi has been democratically elected to represent all beneficiaries of the pension fund in a manner consistent with & similar to most democratic governments in the world. Virtually all democracies elect representatives of constituencies (similar to FAFICS Associations) who, in turn, then elect officers & representatives, often called prime ministers or something similar. Likewise, the delegates of the world-wide Associations elected each year their representatives to the PB, as they did this july in rome (where i had been elected as the Presiding Officer). ( so i may speak with some authority of which you have none.)
5. You should feel ashamed of yourself for having assisted in destroying the career & the life of a decent man, our CEO of the PB. Having done so, it is scurrilous to try to blacken others.
alan prien, president (duly democratically elected), FFOA

Dear Madame,
To compare a person of Italian culture and nationality to Pinnochio is a racist attack that is in violation of the ICSC Code of Conduct of an International Civil Servant and the individual's human rights.   It is an embarrassment to the dignity of the United Nations system and to anyone who proudly serves it.

This is the 3rd time that we are respectively asking you to remove our email address from all your mailing lists.   Please do it this time - we do not want to hear from you again.

Thank you

Dear colleague,

Please share this message as widely as possible with active and retired UN staff, members of the Pension Fund.

Please find link to article" "Six Pinocchios for the FAFICS President", excerpt below:

"Respect for facts is a prerequisite for any constructive "dialogue." There are numerous examples in Marco Breschi's dismal response to Lowell Flanders that demonstrate the consistent FAFICS approach of "Truth is not truth", i.e., the Pinnochio effect.

To demonstrate, here are six "Pinocchios" identified in his letter and factual responses for each (ref. OIOS governance audit A/73/341...

Finally, "not feel[ing] at all in a hole", and the bizarre idea that 50,000 non FAFICS-member retirees and beneficiaries “feel adequately protected”, would be laughable were it not disingenuous -- and delusional."

I'll be pleased to publicize your responses. You're both a disgrace to your positions. If you had the slightest sense of shame you would resign. I'll publicize my response as well.

Dear colleague,

Please see link to new article: "Pension Fund CEO on probation: UN Secretary-General tells Pension Board: Do your job."

Excerpt: "Now, the Secretary-General, through his Chef de Cabinet, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, has informed the Pension Board chair, Annick Vanhoutte, by letter dated 7 December 2017, that he has accepted the Board’s recommendation to reappoint Chief Executive Officer Sergio Arvizu for a second term of three years. However, Arvizu' s continuation will be subject to an annual review of his performance. The practical effect of this decision is that the Fund’s CEO has been placed on probation, with a renewable one-year contract based on the Pension Board’s report of his “progress in addressing performance issues of the Fund.” Read full article here:

Please share with as many current and former UN staff as possible.

Best wishes for the holidays and New Year.
